This 3D printer is the fifth-generation personal 3D printer from MakerBot Industries in Brooklyn, USA, which focused on making 3D printing for desktop environment even easier, with thinner layers and better precision. Replicator 2X offers our users a stable environment for experimenting with 3D printing in different materials and colors. With a heated buildplate and dual extruders, the MakerBot Replicator 2X can be used for extremely advanced prints.

The MakerBot Replicator 2X is adapted to produce prototypes with the proven FFF technique . It uses two printheads that provides a neutralized printing environment that handles ABS and HIPS plastics. Replicator 2X comes with a plastic cap and windows to reduce air currents and temperature differences that may otherwise affect the printouts . The machine is also equipped with a heated platform that makes it easier to experiment with materials other than ABS. Once the models are complete , the user can pick them out from the bed and use them right away, without the need for any chemical finishing. Layer thickness is as thin as a standard 80g A4 paper, 0,1 mm.

You can print files from most CAD programs and other 3D modeling systems. The only thing you need to do is save the file as STL format and open it in th MakerWare software to start printing prototypes, toys or maybe spareparts. In the MakerWare software, you can even choose the color of the parts. With the Replicator 2X uses two print heads , one can choose to have different colors in the same print. One of the extruders can also be used with dissolvable filament and assigned to extrude support material which allows you to produce 3D-prints that would otherwise be impossible and after soaking the print in a solvent like water for PVA or Limonen for HIPS, the support material is gone and your impossible print is suddenly possible!
